New Year, Same Anchor: Recommitting to Christ in 2026

A woman in a blue sweater and hat prays next to a framed image of a figure standing in water. The setting is a store with white shelves.

Happy New Year, Sweet Mamas!

I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas celebration with your families filled with faith, joy, and gratitude. Christmas at my home was beautiful this year: after all the hard work and hustle and bustle decorating and cooking to prepare, I was so grateful to have time to slow down, honor God, and remember the true reason of the season alongside my wonderful family. (The kids absolutely loved Emmanuel on the Mantle- despite all the internet hate I'm getting for it, I know it was the best move for our family, and I know God agrees!)

Speaking of internet noise...with the new year rapidly approaching, lots of people are rushing to make their resolutions for 2026. Eating healthier. Getting skinnier. Getting richer...all feeble attempts to become happier. There's no problem with getting healthy or skinny, or rich per se...but ultimately, they will mean nothing without a foundation of faith, the path to true happiness and fulfillment.

Mamas, this time of transition offers us such an amazing opportunity to focus our year on Him, and rededicate ourselves to the Lord! With that in mind, I'm going to share my own personal goals of how I'll be recommitting to Christ, my husband, and my family, and hopefully it inspires you to create your own Christ-Centered Resolutions! My goal, as always, is to serve, and as a Christian wife and mom, taking time to set these important intentions and reminders helps me to remember where my priorities lie.

Three Ways I'm Recommitting to Christ in 2026:

First: I’m nothing without connecting and prioritizing my connection to God.

If I pour everything into strengthening that relationship, all of my other relationships benefit from that firm foundation. John 15:5 says “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.”

You can do nothing.

Without building a relationship with the Lord, this ministry I have here is pointless. I can’t serve my husband and be a good wife to him. I can’t guide and point my kids to Christ. If my inner life is in turmoil without the love and guidance from our good Father, I won’t be at my best. Seek first the kingdom of God.

Second: To Honor God, I must Honor my Husband

In order for my house to be harmonious, I have to serve my husband and keep him happy.

Ephesians 5:22-24 says it best: “Wives, be willing to serve your husbands the same as the Lord. A husband is the head of his wife, just as Christ is the head of the church. Christ is the Savior of the church, which is his body. The church serves under Christ, so it is the same with you wives. You should be willing to serve your husbands in everything.”

It is my husband’s spiritual role to lead me, and if I am to follow Christ and mold my sweet family, I must be willing to let him lead and guide me.

I love my husband and trust him with my life, and to lead me and my children every day. In that trust, and in that Holy Submission, there is True Empowerment. Where he goes, I go.

I never feel safer than when Jayce has his strong arms around me.

Third: To Honor God, I must Honor my Sacred Role as Mother and Homemaker

Psalm 127:3 tells us that children are a gift from the Lord, and He has blessed our union by providing us with three incredible children! I must always remember how lucky I am to have them, even on the days where it’s really hard. I can always be more present, caring, patient, and gentle with them.

When I show up as my best self and pour myself into them selflessly, the same way Christ did for us, then my kids thrive. I want them to know they’re in a happy and healthy home where mama remembers what’s really important in life!

My beautiful girls, Addisyn and Taylyn!

When we commit to following Christ, we commit to leading our families to Him.

To take steps towards my goal, every single day this year, I vow to:

1.) engage in ten minutes of devotional time

2.) let my husband make a decision that impacts everyone

3.) spend fifteen minutes of no phone time with my kids

Use that as a guide for your own goal-setting, or change it up!

Remember: the only thing standing between you and your goals to be better (a better Christian, a better Wife, a better Mother, a better Homemaker...anything) and closer to God is YOU! You HAVE to commit yourself to doing the work. No one else will do it for you.

I am NOTHING without Christ. I am NOTHING without my Husband. I will be EVERYTHING for my children. I am so tired of getting in my own way and making excuses- this is the year I ACTUALLY become BETTER. I will do it. I must do it. I must find my peace in God and do better for my family. I swear to God, and I swear to you, Holleigh.
